Re: [HAPS-L] Student genetics question

Has anyone ever heard of a genetic defect that prevents the females in a
family from lactating? It was mentioned by a student and I've never heard
of such a thing.
For this, as for most things relating to human genetics, the OMIM site is
the place to go:

I searched 'lactation' and came up with a bunch of hits. I didn't check
them all, but found one that involves prolactin deficiency, and another
that affects the skin and causes absence of nipples. If I had to guess, I'd
imagine that your student meant the former situation - it seems to be very
straightforward in etiology, and its genetics also seem well established.
