[HAPS-L] Lactation problems

Deborah and Roberta:

A quick search at OMIM turned up the problem of lack of prolactin production
with a genetic basis. Possibly autosomal recessive. Look here:

My mother was unable to nurse us. I was unable to nurse my children. My
daughter was unable to nurse hers. Some milk production, no let down, etc.,
etc., etc.

The doctors told my daughter there was a genetic component (when she relayed
the history). Neither my daughter nor I pursued it any further.

Hello HAPS colleagues,
Has anyone ever heard of a genetic defect that prevents the females in a
family from lactating? It was mentioned by a student and I've never heard
of such a thing.
