Poetry to complement Escondido arts center exhibit
ESCONDIDO ---- Four poets will give voice to the "Mi Corazon Escondido"
exhibit for three weeks beginning Saturday at the California Center for the
Arts, Escondido, Museum.
Visual artist David Avalos created "Mi Corazon Escondido," or "My Hidden Heart,"
through collaboration with other local artists to offer a glimpse of life in
Escondido. The controversial exhibition also addresses immigration issues in
this diverse community of 141,000 people.
The poets and their performance dates are:
- Adrian Arancibia, an assistant professor of English at Miramar College and
a native of Chile; 1 p.m. Saturday.
- Carlos von Son, a North County poet, playwright, photographer and film
producer; 1 p.m. June 24.
- Monica Navarro, a student at Escondido Charter High School, and Brandon
Cesmat, an author and teacher at Cal State San Marcos; 6 p.m. July 4.
"Mi Corazon Escondido" can be seen at the arts center museum, at 340 N.
Escondido Blvd., through July 4. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tuesdays through Saturdays and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
Admission is $5 for the general public, $4 for military and seniors, $3 for
students, and free for ages 12 and younger. Admission is free the first
Wednesday of each month, including July Fourth.
