Student Rehearsal and Performance DNCE 197K Course Syllabus Instructor: Patriceann Mead (Office D3M, ext. 2969) Class Time: T/TH 11:00-12:20, 2:30-3:20 (2.5 UNITS) Room: O2 COURSE DESCRIPTION: A unique rehearsal and performance class specifically designed for student choreographers. It is modeled after the faculty production classes with an additional weekly advisement component. This class provides student with the opportunity to develop their own choreography, work with a cast of dancers of their choice, submit work for the Fall Student Concert auditions, and present work in the Winter Concert if work is accepted! - Student will hold their own auditions - Students will choose their own cast - Students will be provided with scheduled rehearsal time in the studio - Students will be given feedback from peers - Students will be given recommendation for revisions from other Palomar Faculty during the audition process - Will be provided with technical support for concert - Will have the opportunity to perform in the Palomar performing arts season if work is accepted COURSE REQUIRMENTS: Must be enrolled in Choreographer I and II. Must be prepared for each scheduled rehearsal. Must be willing to participate in other aspects of producing the student concert; costume, promotion, front of house assistance etc. Must be prepared to commit a full week to tech rehearsals, dress rehearsal, and performances. Students are expected to apply the concepts of choreography to their work that are being presented in choreography I and II. Students are expected to follow class room guidelines that are presented in class. Note: Student dancers who are not choreographing must also be enrolled in choreography and student production. Once rehearsal schedule is established you will be not required to be in class the whole time if you are not rehearsing. |
