In Unit 1 of Biology 201, we study ”simple” forms of life by exploring prepared slides (among other things). Photos of some of our actual slides can be studied further -- outside the lab! -- by following these links...

Images above are from Biology, 8th ed. 2008. Campbell, N., Reece, J., et al. Pearson Benjamin Cummings, San Francisco, CA.

Note: for each of the following slides, be able to identify...
  • the Domain, Kingdom and Division (at least), but also the Genus, if possible
  • the individual cell type, and its function
  • the structure(s) within each cell or specimen
  • and you should know the ploidy of the plant tissues you’re looking at!

IMPORTANT: These images alone are not a replacement for the Rust manual (or equivalent photographic Lab reference). Spend the money! Isn’t your grade worth it?
